GAC Aion has entered the Cambodian automotive market in partnership with a local dealer, its second international market entry after Thailand.

GAC Aion will launch more products in Cambodia to drive the country's auto industry's transition to new energy sources, it said, without mentioning specific plans.

GAC Aion is one of the top-selling EV brands in China, selling 41,567 vehicles in November, up 44.51 percent year-on-year and up 0.15 percent from October, according to data it released on December 1.

In the January-November period, GAC Aion sold 436,056 vehicles, up 80.82 percent year-on-year.

GAC Aion is stepping up its efforts in overseas markets, signing a memorandum of cooperation with a Thai dealer on June 28 to officially enter the Thai market.

The company will set up its Southeast Asian headquarters in Thailand within this year, it said at the time.

On August 21, GAC Aion shipped its first export of 100 Aion Y Plus EVs to Thailand, marking the first time it has shipped vehicles to an overseas market.

At the Thailand auto show on November 29, GAC Aion displayed five models under the Aion and Hyper brands -- the Aion Y Plus, Aion ES, Hyper GT, Hyper HT, and Hyper SSR.

GAC Aion has a factory in the pipeline in Thailand, which will be located in Rayong province in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), the company announced at the time.

The plant is designed to have a capacity of 50,000 units per year and will be built in two phases, with the first phase expected to be completed by July 2024.
