China EV insurance registrations for week ending Nov 26: Nio 3,300, Xpeng 4,400, Li Auto 9,400, Tesla 16,700
From November 1 to November 26, Nio was 12,700, Xpeng 14,800, Li Auto 34,800, Tesla 56,000 and BYD 178,000 units.
Insurance registrations last week were 3,700 for the Li L7, 2,900 for the Li L8 and 2,800 for the Li L9, the company said. The figures for all three models were lower than the previous week.
Between November 1 and November 26, insurance registrations for Li Auto vehicles were 34,800, according to the company.
Li Auto delivered 40,422 vehicles in October, the first time it has surpassed the 40,000 mark. That's a year-on-year increase of 302.13 percent and a 12.1 percent increase from September, the ninth sequential increase.
The company guided for fourth-quarter vehicle deliveries to be in the range of 125,000 to 128,000 units when it reported third-quarter earnings on November 9.
Considering it delivered 40,422 vehicles in October, the guidance implies that Li Auto expects to deliver a total of 84,578 to 87,578 vehicles in November and December.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) came in at 3,300 units last week, down 10.81 percent from 3,700 units the week before.
Between November 1 and November 26, a total of 12,700 Nio vehicles were registered for insurance in China.
Nio will announce its unaudited financial results for the third quarter on Tuesday, December 5, before the US markets open. It delivered 55,432 vehicles in the third quarter, slightly above the lower end of its guidance range of 55,000 to 57,000 vehicles.
Nio delivered 16,074 vehicles in October, up 59.8 percent from a year ago and up 2.77 percent from September. It is expected to provide guidance for fourth-quarter deliveries on December 5.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) was at 4,400 units last week, up 4.76 percent from 4,200 units the week before.
Between November 1 and November 26, a total of 14,800 Xpeng vehicles were registered for insurance in China.
Xpeng guided for fourth-quarter deliveries of between 59,500 and 63,500 vehicles in its third-quarter earnings report, which was released November 15.
Considering it delivered 20,002 vehicles in October, the guidance means Xpeng expects to deliver a total of 39,498 to 43,498 vehicles in November and December.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) came in at 16,700 units last week, up 2.45 percent from 16,300 units the week before.
Between November 1 and November 26, a total of 56,000 Tesla vehicles were registered for insurance in China.
Earlier today, Tesla raised the starting price of the Model Y Long Range in China by RMB 2,000 ($280), its fifth price hike in China in the past month.
As it continues to raise prices, Tesla is starting to offer a limited-time RMB 8,000 insurance subsidy in China for the base Model 3 and Model Y that have already been produced.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) came in at 48,300 units last week, down 8.7 percent from 52,900 units the week before.
Between November 1 and November 26, a total of 178,000 BYD vehicles were registered for insurance in China.
BYD sold 301,833 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in October, surpassing the 300,000-unit mark for the first time and marking the sixth consecutive month of record sales.
From January to October, BYD sold 2,381,471 NEVs, up 70.36 percent year-on-year.
BYD aims to sell at least 3 million vehicles this year and strives to reach 3.6 million, the company's chairman and president Wang Chuanfu said in late March.
BYD's premium brand Denza was at 2,200 units last week, up 22.22 percent from 1,800 the previous week.
Zeekr was at 2,200 units last week, down 8.33 percent from 2,400 the week before.
Leapmotor was at 4,100 last week, down 8.89 percent from 4,500 the week before.
Neta's numbers for last week are unknown as it did not make it into any of the rankings published by Li Auto. It had 2,900 insurance registrations the week before.
