Tesla raises starting price of Model Y Long Range in China again by about $280

Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) has once again raised price slightly in China, continuing a move that has been made over the past month.

The US electric vehicle (EV) maker today raised the starting price of the Model Y Long Range in China by RMB 2,000 yuan ($280), according to the latest information on its Chinese website.

The move brings the Model Y Long Range's starting price in China up 0.66 percent to RMB 306,400 from RMB 304,400 previously.

Prices for other Tesla models sold in China remained unchanged today.

This is Tesla's fifth price hike in China in the past month, albeit mostly for different models.

The Model Y Long Range last saw a price hike a week ago, when it went up by RMB 2,000 to RMB 304,400 from RMB 302,400.

Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 and Model Y. Its other two more expensive models, the Model S and Model X, are not produced in China.

Except for the Model Y Long Range, prices for other Tesla models sold in China remained unchanged today.

The Model 3 is offered in two versions in China -- the basic version with rear-wheel drive, and the Model 3 Long Range with dual-motor all-wheel drive. They remain priced at RMB 261,400 and RMB 297,400 respectively.

The Model Y is offered in three versions in China -- the basic rear-wheel-drive version, the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Model Y Long Range, and the dual-motor all-wheel-drive Model Y Performance.

The price of the basic Model Y remains at RMB 266,400 and the Model Y Performance remains at RMB 363,900.

On October 27, the Model Y Performance's starting price in China was raised by RMB 14,000, the start of this latest round of price increases.

On November 9, the Model 3 Long Range received a small price increase of RMB 1,500 in China, and the Model Y Long Range received a RMB 2,500 price increase.

On November 14, the price of the Model 3 basic version increased by RMB 1,500, and the Model Y basic version increased by RMB 2,500.

On November 21, Tesla raised the starting price of the Model Y Long Range in China by RMB 2,000, from RMB 302,400 to RMB 304,400.
