Tesla Oct sales in China: Model Y at 26,353, Model 3 at 2,273

Tesla Model Y retail sales in China were down 36.39 percent in October from September, while Model 3 was up 9.33 percent.

The electric sedan's sales in China in October were down 19.08 percent from 2,809 units in the same month last year, but up 9.33 percent from 2,079 units in September.

In the January-October period, retail sales of the Model 3 in China were 115,893 units, up 13.79 percent from a year earlier.

Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 as well as the Model Y. Deliveries of the locally produced Model 3 and Model Y in China began in January 2020 and January 2021, respectively.

Tesla unveiled the revamped Model 3, or Model 3 Highland, in China on September 1 and began official sales of the sedan on October 19. On October 26, Tesla said it had begun deliveries of the new Model 3 in China.

On October 1, Tesla launched an updated Model Y in China with minor configuration updates. On October 15, the company said deliveries of the new Model Y in China had begun.

Tesla sold 72,115 China-made vehicles in October, of which 43,489 were exported, CPCA data released on November 8 showed.

In the January-October period, Tesla sold 771,171 China-made vehicles, up 39.01 percent year-on-year, data monitored by CnEVPost showed.

Of the China-made vehicles sold by Tesla in October, including exports, 47,164 were Model Y and 24,951 were Model 3, according to the CPCA.

China-made Model Y sales were up 13.68 percent year-on-year in October, but down 11.43 percent from September.

From January to October, China-made Model Y sold 503,978 units, up 43.89 percent year-on-year.

China-made Model 3 sales in October were 17.42 percent lower year-on-year, but up 19.82 percent from September.

From January through October, China-made Model 3 sold 267,193 units, up 30.63 percent year-on-year.

Of the 43,489 China-made vehicles exported by Tesla in October, 20,811 were Model Y, down 23.20 percent year-on-year but up 76.05 percent from September.

China-made Model 3 exported 22,678 units in October, down 17.25 percent year-on-year and up 20.98 percent from September.
