Neta Auto, the electric vehicle (EV) brand of Chinese company Hozon Auto, has launched a new model, the Neta X, bringing a lower price tag and a high-end cockpit chip used only in flagship models.
Neta launched the model, a facelift of the previously available Neta U-II, at an event today. The approach is similar to the company's launch of the Neta Aya, a facelift of the Neta V, in August.
The Neta X is offered in four variants with starting prices of RMB 126,800 ($17,340), RMB 136,800, RMB 136,800 and RMB 146,800 respectively.
For comparison, the previously available Neta U-II is also available in four versions, with starting prices of RMB 135,800, RMB 142,800, RMB 153,800 and RMB 165,800 respectively.
This means that the starting price of the entry-level version of the Neta X is RMB 9,000 lower than the starting price of the entry-level version of the Neta U-II.
Neta is also offering a limited-time entitlement, where customers who pay RMB 2,000 to order the Neta X before November 30 will receive a RMB 18,000 discount.
The Neta X measures 4,619 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width and 1,628 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,770 mm.
It is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 120 kW and a top speed of 150 km/h.
The Neta X's CLTC range consists of two options -- 401 km and 501 km.
The model comes standard with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 cockpit chip as well as a Journey 3 smart driving chip from local Chinese chipmaker Horizon Robotics.
The Snapdragon 8155 chip is rare for a model of this price. The chip is usually only used in mid-to-high-end models that cost at least twice as much as the Neta X.
Neta began equipping the model with the Snapdragon 8155 chip in October 2022 when it launched the Neta U-II to replace the Neta U.
Powered by the Qualcomm 8155 chip, the Neta U-II would be the ceiling for smart cockpits in models priced in the RMB 150,000 class, Neta said at the time.
Neta delivered 13,211 vehicles in September, up 9.15 percent from August but down 26.63 percent year-on-year, according to data it released earlier this month.
