RoboSense Technology, backed by Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), saw record LiDAR sales in August, with its products being used in more than a dozen models.

RoboSense delivered more than 20,000 automotive LiDARs in August, marking a new milestone after reaching nearly 10,000 units in June, the company announced today.

That August sales exceeded 50 percent of RoboSense's sales for all of last year, the company said, adding that the milestone marks the scaling of LiDAR production and the global automotive industry's commitment to intelligent transformation.

By the end of August, there were already 14 production models with RoboSense's LiDAR products on board, according to the company.

After August, RoboSense remains committed to supporting the gradual mass production and delivery phase of multiple models, it said.

Founded in 2014, RoboSense's RS-LiDAR-M1 is the world's first mass-produced solid-state LiDAR, with mass production and delivery beginning in June 2021.

In 2022, mass production of RS-LiDAR-M1's upgraded version, RS-LiDAR-M1P, began. RS-LiDAR-M1 and RS-LiDAR-M1P sales in 2022 were 36,600 units and 4,300 units, respectively.

RoboSense entered into a supply partnership with BYD at the end of 2021 and announced on February 6 of this year that it had entered into a supply partnership agreement with Toyota to provide LiDARs for a number of the latter's models.

At the end of June, RoboSense submitted an application for listing in Hong Kong, and its prospectus showed that it had cumulatively delivered more than 100,000 LiDARs by the end of the first quarter.

As of March 31, RoboSense has received expected orders for 52 models of LiDAR from 21 car companies and Tier 1 suppliers, of which 9 models have already started production, according to its prospectus.

In 2022, RoboSense has 953 customers, including primarily Geely, GAC Aion, Great Wall Motor, Xpeng, Lotus, and Lucid.
