SAIC VW January sales face slight YoY growth  to 213,919 units

Shanghai (ZXZC)- SAIC Volkswagen (SAIC VW) delivered a total of 213,919 vehicles in January this year, slightly increasing compared with 213,717 units from a year earlier. VW brand's deliveries reached 178,910 units, ranking first among single brands in China. Meanwhile, Skoda sold 35,009 vehicles in January, edging up 0.57% year on year. 

As to models, Polo family ranked first in China's joint-venture A0-class segment by its January sales of 18,041 units. Lavida family became the champion in sedan segment with 49,039 units delivered last month. In SUV segment, Tiguan's January sales reached 26,392 units and Teramont ranked first among large-sized SUVs with a monthly delivery of 8,841 units. 

Skoda achieved sales increase in the past month supported by its SUV strategy. Total sales of SUV Yeti and Kodiaq reached 12,902 units in January. Skoda plans to release Karoq in March which is expected to drive the brand's sales growth in China.

VW brand of SAIC VW plans to roll out 6 new models this year, including 3 new energy models and an all-new small-sized SUV T-Cross. In addition, Skoda will enrich its product portfolios by releasing an all-new compact SUV Karoq, a small-sized SUV and Kodiaq GT (a "coupe" version of Kodiaq SUV model) in China this year.
