China NEV retail sales at 172,000 in Sept 1-10, up 9% from same period last month

From September 1 to September 10, retail sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China were 172,000 units, up 40 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from the same period last month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

So far this year, China's retail sales of passenger NEVs were 4.615 million units, up 36 percent year-on-year.

From September 1 to September 10, wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China were 172,000 units, up 12 percent year-on-year and up 13 percent from the same period in August, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, China's wholesale sales of passenger NEVs stood at 5,252,000 units, up 37 percent year-on-year.

Between September 1 and September 10, retail sales of all passenger cars in China were 439,000 units, up 14 percent from the same period last year and unchanged from the same period last month, the CPCA said.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger cars in China are at 13.65 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year.

This means that China's penetration of NEVs at retail was 39.18 percent in the first 10 days of September, and 33.8percent so far this year.

From September 1 to September 10, China's average daily passenger car retail sales were 43,885 units, up 14 percent from the same period last year and flat from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

China's retail auto sales in early September were flat from the same period in August but did not face much pressure, the CPCA said.

With the successful holding of the Chengdu auto show and the launch of new models accelerating, the market's consumption cadence is remains fine, the CPCA said.
