New Energy Vehicles will Reach 600,000 units in China’s Transport Industry by 2020
Shanghai (ZXZC)-Cai Tuanjie, Vice Director of Transport Service Division of Transport Ministry made a clear declaration on September 24th that it’s predicted the total volume of domestic new energy vehicles in transportation industry including urban buses, taxis and urban logistics distribution vehicles will exceed 300,000 units at the end of year, accomplishing the target in 2020 ahead of time. Therefore, the volume target in 2020 will double to 600,000 units.
Although all measures are used to control the growth of traditional vehicles in recent years, the large base number has made continuous expansion of fossil-fuel vehicles. It’s calculated that the domestic car parc will reach 250m units by the year 2020. It’s believed that the growing vehicle ownership will bring heavy burden to local urban transportation and emission pollution as well. Previously, analysis results from environmental protection authorities show that the primary pollution source for PM 2.5 comes from exhaust emissions.
