BYD sells record 274,386 NEVs in Aug, including 25,023 overseas
BYD sold 145,627 BEVs in August, up 76.14 percent year-on-year, and 128,459 PHEVs, up 40.70 percent.
Of its passenger NEVs, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sold 145,627 units, up 76.14 percent from 82,678 units a year ago and up 8.05 percent from 134,783 units in July.
Its passenger plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) stood at 128,459 units, up 40.70 percent from 91,299 units a year ago and up 1.69 percent from 126,322 units in July.
In August, BYD sold 25,023 NEVs in overseas markets, up 37.72 percent from 18,169 in July.
The company first announced its overseas sales figures for NEVs in 2022 in July.
In addition to being China's largest NEV company, BYD is also China's second-largest power battery maker after CATL.
BYD's installed base of power and energy storage batteries amounted to about 13.928 GWh in August, up 84.40 percent from 7.553 GWh a year earlier and up 12.27 percent from 12.406 GWh in July.
BYD aims to sell at least 3 million vehicles this year and aims to reach 3.6 million, the company's chairman and president Wang Chuanfu said in late March.
