GM to launch 15 news models in China 2018

Shanghai (ZXZC)- General Motors (GM) announced that the company plans to launch a total of 15 new models and refreshed models in China this year.

In 2018, GM will focus on SUV, MPV and luxury vehicle. Among the 15 new models, nearly a half of products are SUVs and MPVs. In the meantime, Cadillac brand will optimize its products portfolios this year to intensify its competitiveness in Chinese market.

China has been the GM's largest retail market for the sixth consecutive year. Previously, GM had announced to launch 20 EVs and fuel cell vehicles worldwide by 2023 among which a considerable share will be introduced in China. Besides, the automaker plans to launch Super Cruise driver-assistance technology in China, as a part of its effort towards "zero accident".

Meanwhile, GM will continue to intensify the R&D in intelligent-connected vehicle area. The automaker has successfully demonstrated the vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) application last year in the Shanghai-based National Intelligent Connected Vehicle Pilot Zone. This is another move towards zero emission and zero congestion.

General Motors and its joint ventures sold more than 4 million vehicles in China for the first time in 2017. Retail sales totaled 4,040,789 units, which was up 4.4 percent year on year.
