Voyah launches facelift for Free SUV, ditches BEV version

Voyah has let the facelift of the Voyah Free go on sale, offering only an EREV variant at a starting price reduced by RMB 66,700 from what was previously on sale.

The dimensions of the new Voyah Free remain unchanged from the previous model, with length, width and height of 4,905 mm, 1,950 mm and 1,645 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,960 mm.

The model's peak engine power has been increased from 80 kW to 90 kW, and it also features dual electric motors, with the front motor producing 160 kW and the rear motor producing 200 kW.

With this powertrain, the new Voyah Free can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The new Voyah Free is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of 39.2 kWh, a CLTC pure electric range of 160 km and a CLTC combined range of 1,201 km.

The vehicle comes with the Apollo Highway Driving Pro assisted driving system from Baidu for RMB 25,000 yuan.

Until December 31, customers can either pay RMB 10,000 to buy out the software when ordering the vehicle, or subscribe to the software on a monthly basis.

Under the subscription system, customers get four months of free experience, followed by a monthly subscription of RMB 600, or RMB 6,000 per year.

Voyah Free was initially seen as a strong competitor to Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li One, which has now been discontinued. Li Auto's three models on sale -- the Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9 -- are still all EREVs.

However, the Voyah currently sells only one-tenth of what Li Auto does, even though it also sells the Voyah Dreamer MPV and the Voyah Zhuiguang sedan.

In July, Voyah sold 3,412 vehicles, the fifth consecutive month at just over 3,000, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
