Li Auto currently sells three models -- the Li L7, Li L8, and Li L9 -- all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs) priced at more than 300,000 yuan ($41,200).
The company plans to launch its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) within the year, and previously said it was confident that the MPV would be the top seller in China priced at more than 500,000 yuan.
The Li L6 will be Li Auto's first model priced below RMB 300,000, and the lower price is expected to make it the company's main seller. L stands for Li Auto's EREV SUV models.
On September 22, 2022, Li Auto said in a Weibo post that it will launch the Li L6, a midsize five-seat SUV priced below RMB 300,000.
By 2025, Li Auto's product array will include one super-flagship model, five EREVs, and five BEVs, it said on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show.
By then, Li Auto's models for the market priced above RMB 200,000 will fully meet the needs of family users, the company previously said.
On August 8, Li Auto's management said in an analyst call after announcing its second-quarter earnings results that the company is very confident in the competitiveness of the Li L6, and the model is expected to have the highest monthly sales in the L series.
Li Auto is confident that it can challenge German luxury carmakers Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi in China in 2024, aiming to become the No. 1 selling premium brand in the country, the company said in the earnings call.
Li Auto, which has sold more than 30,000 units in each of the past two months, is aiming to challenge 40,000 sales in a single month in the fourth quarter, although it is being held back by capacity constraints.
For 2024-2025, Li Auto has capacity planned to meet production and delivery needs, the company said on August 8.
