With this year's Chengdu auto show coming up next week, Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) is starting to warm up for its upcoming press event.
On August 25, the first day of the Chengdu auto show, Li Auto will announce news about 5C supercharging, City NOA (Navigation on ADAS), and its first battery electric vehicle (BEV), the Li Mega, the company said today on Weibo.
The Chengdu auto show will be held at the Western China International Expo City from August 25 to September 3, with August 25 being media day.
A total of 129 brands will display nearly 1,600 models at the show, according to a WeChat post published yesterday by the event's organizers. Li Auto's booth will be in Hall 11, H1102.
Li Auto has already presented some information about supercharging, ADAS, and the Li Mega at its first-ever Family Tech Day on June 17, and next week's event is expected to provide more details.
The Li Mega is Li Auto's first BEV and is expected to be released by the end of 2023, the company announced at its Family Tech Day event in June.
"We are confident that it will be the No. 1 seller of all passenger cars priced at RMB 500,000 ($68,650) or more, regardless of energy form or body style," the company said.
The Li Mega will break the traditional perception that high-end pure EVs cannot be hot sellers, Li Auto previously said.
Li Auto currently has three models on sale, the five-seat Li L7, and the six-seat Li L8 and Li L9, all of which are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), essentially plug-in hybrids.
Li Auto also introduced its so-called 5C charging solution at the June event, which it said enables charging power of more than 500 kW.
The company has optimized its batteries at a system level to more fully utilize their 5C charging multiplier, enabling the vehicle to get 400 km of range on a 9-minute 30-second charge and 600 km of range in 22 minutes, it said at the time.
The company also mentioned in June that its City NOA feature would first be tested internally in Beijing and Shanghai, and would be available in more cities in the second half of the year.
