China NEV retail sales at 208,000 in Aug 1-13, up 1% from same period last month

From August 1 to August 13, China's passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales increased by 38 percent year-on-year to 208,000 units, up 1 percent from the same period of the previous month, according to data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) on August 16.
So far this year, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China stood at 3.934 million units, up 36 percent year-on-year.
From August 1 to August 13, China's passenger NEV wholesale sales were 207,000 units, up 14 percent year-on-year and up 1 percent from the same period in July, according to the CPCA.
So far this year, China's passenger NEV wholesale sales were 4,488,000 units, up 40 percent year-on-year.
Between August 1 and 13, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 577,000 units, up 5 percent year-on-year and up 8 percent from the same period last month, the CPCA said.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger cars in China have totaled 11.87 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year.
This means that in the first two weeks of August, China's penetration of NEVs at retail was 36.04 percent, compared with 33.13 percent so far this year.
From August 1 to August 6, China's average daily passenger car retail sales were 40,150 units, down 1 percent from the same period last year and up 9 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.
From August 7 to August 13, China's average daily retail sales of passenger cars were 48,044 units, up 10 percent from the same period last year and up 7 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.
In August last year, the vehicle purchase tax halving policy gave a weaker boost to vehicle sales, while August this year is a normal sales time, so the year-on-year performance at the beginning of the month was relatively strong, the CPCA said.
The current complex and volatile external environment has had a big impact on consumer confidence, with demand for first-time car purchases performing much less well than demand for trade-ins, the CPCA said.
