Leapmotor previously said that all models of its C platform and future new platforms will have both BEV and EREV versions.

The dimensions of the EREV variant are basically the same as those of the previously available C01 battery electric vehicle (BEV), except that it is taller than the latter's 1,509 mm.

The C01 EREV is powered by an electric motor with a maximum power of 200 kW and a range-extender with a maximum power of 68 kW and a displacement of 1,499 ml.

One version of the model will use a lithium iron phosphate battery pack from Gotion High-tech, while the other two will be powered by lithium ternary batteries from CALB.

Founded in 2015, Leapmotor's on-sale models include the mini vehicle T03, coupe model S01, flagship SUV model C11, and flagship sedan C01.

The C01 sedan went on sale on September 28, 2022, and was previously only available in a BEV version, targeting the RMB 200,000 ($28,000) to 300,000 market.

Starting in the fourth quarter of last year, Leapmotor's deliveries declined significantly, falling to 1,139 units by January of this year, the lowest since March 2021.

In an effort to reverse the sales decline, Leapmotor unveiled plans late last year to release EREV models to target the larger market for plug-in hybrids.

Leapmotor founder, chairman and CEO Zhu Jiangming said after the company announced its third-quarter results on November 14, 2022, that all models on the company's C platform, as well as new platforms in the future, will have both BEV and EREV versions.

On March 1, Leapmotor officially launched the C11 EREV and offered 2023 versions for previously sold BEVs, allowing for lower starting prices.

Leapmotor's series moves appeared to have worked to boost sales, with 13,209 vehicles delivered in June, surpassing the previous record of 12,525 last August.
