The Nio ET5 and ES7 -- known as the EL7 in Europe -- both earned the highest five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests, following the ET7 sedan.

Nio (NYSE: NIO) is targeting the premium segment, which helps it build the safest models.

Following the ET7 sedan, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker's ET5 sedan and ES7 SUV -- known as the EL7 in overseas markets -- both earned the highest five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests.

The ratings were published on the Euro NCAP website today, showing that the ET5 and EL7 are the only two models to have participated in the test this year.

Nio launched the ET5, its lowest-priced sedan, in China on Nio Day 2021 in December 2021, with first deliveries on September 30, 2022.

Nio released the ET5 in Europe in October 2022, where the first delivery is on March 31 of this year.

Nio ES7 was released on June 15, 2022, with the first delivery in China on August 28 last year.

Nio launched the SUV in Europe in October 2022, but due to Audi's lawsuit, the model was renamed as the EL7 in Europe.

The first delivery of the Nio EL7 in Europe was on January 31.

The model also has a five-star rating in Euro NCAP's latest test, with the following breakdown scores:

Adult Occupant: 93 percent

Child Occupant: 85 percent

Vulnerable Road Users: 80 percent

Safety Assist: 79 percent

In November 2022, the Nio ET7 received a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test, with the model then scoring:

Adult Occupant: 91 percent

Child Occupant: 87 percent

Vulnerable Road Users: 73 percent

Safety Assist: 95 percent

Nio launched the ET7, its first sedan and the first model of its NT 2.0 platform, on January 9, 2021 at the Nio Day 2020 event.

The company held its Nio Berlin launch event on October 7, 2022, launching the ET7, EL7 and ET5 in Europe.
