VW offers big discounts for ID series EVs in China
SAIC-Volkswagen is offering discounts of up to RMB 42,000 for the ID.3, while FAW-Volkswagen's ID.6 CROZZ is priced at RMB 63,000 less than its website shows.
Volkswagen's joint ventures in China, SAIC-Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen, both offer the ID series of EVs, but the ID.3 is only offered by SAIC-Volkswagen.
Both SAIC-Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen produce the ID.4 and ID.6, with the former providing the ID.4X and ID.6X, and the latter being the ID.4 CROZZ and ID.6 CROZZ.
In addition to SAIC-Volkswagen's offer for the ID.3, FAW-Volkswagen is also offering discounts for its models starting yesterday, saying this is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the FAW Group.
FAW-Volkswagen posted on its WeChat account today that the ID.4 CROZZ currently has a starting price of RMB 183,900, down RMB 34,000 from the RMB 217,900 displayed on its website.

In addition to the price reduction, FAW-Volkswagen is also offering a trade-in subsidy of up to RMB 7,000 for buyers.
SAIC-Volkswagen did not release information about the discount for ID.4X and ID.6X.
Interestingly, yesterday, 16 major car companies jointly signed a commitment to maintaining market order, pledging to uphold the order of fair competition and not to disrupt the order of fair competition in the market with abnormal prices.
These 16 car companies include FAW and SAIC, but Volkswagen was not among them.
An official from China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said yesterday at the 2023 China Auto Forum in Shanghai that players in China's auto industry should not compete with abnormal prices.
