Shanghai (ZXZC)- We sorted out 27 mainstream automaker’s sales performance in 2017 and found that only 16 of them managed to achieve their sales target last year.

Among all 9 local auto brands, only Geely Auto and GAC Passenger Vehicles, the self-owned brand of GAC Group, succeeded in finishing their annual sales target. The joint ventures had a better performance in completing their sales goals. 14 out of 18 joint ventures have realized their sales target and Japanese brands outperformed brands from other countries in completing annual sales.

Among all 9 self-owned auto brands, Geely performed the best. In 2017, Geely sold a total of 1,247,116 vehicles, exceeding its annual sales goal 1.1 million by 147,000 units. The growth momentum in Boyue, New Emgrand and Emgrand GS contributed a lot to the automaker’s success.

Thanks to the increasing brand power of GAC Trumpchi, the annual sales of GAC Passenger Vehicles reached 508,586 units, surpassing its annual sales target by 8,586 units. The sales of the GS4 were up to 330,000 units.

Among all joint ventures on the list, Japanese brands had an outstanding performance in achieving annual sales target. Take GAC Mitsubishi for example. The joint venture finished its annual target of 100,000 units one month ahead of the schedule. Last year, GAC Mitsubishi handed over 121,133 vehicles, surging 93 percent from a year earlier.

DPCA and Beijing Hyundai also finished its annual sales target, which were lowered on the basis of the original annual sales target. With a total annual delivery of 2,063,077 units, SAIC VW managed to realize its sales target and regain the sales crown among all passenger vehicle brands in China.
