FAW-VW sets annual sales target of 1,450,000 vehicles in 2018

Shanghai (ZXZC)- FAW-VW will reportedly release 5 new significant models in 2018, including two SUV models, the all-new Arteon, the all-new Bora and the new Golf Sportsvan. Besides, it sets an annual sales target of 1,450,000 vehicles in 2018.

FAW-VW will release its first SUV model dubbed T-Roc. Dong Xiuhui, general manager of FAW-VW Sales Company Limited stated that the T-Roc is an A-class mainstream SUV and will hit the market in the third quarter of 2018. Another SUV will be the core strategic model under Volkswagen brand to strike into medium-to-high-end SUV market and will go on sale in the fourth quarter in 2018.

Dong Xiuhui also exposed that FAW-VW will adopt powerful marketing methods to update customers' knowledge about FAW-VW's SUV. Apart from the two SUVs, other three models, the all-new Arteon, the all-new Bora and the new Golf Sportsvan will be built based on the MQB platform.

Facing a variety of difficulties in 2017, such as slowing growth rate of Chinese vehicle market, intense competetion from self-owned brands, phasing out of purchasing tax policy, fast introduction of rivalry models and constant expansion of SUV market, FAW-VW sold 1,405,088 units throughout 2017, jumping 6.8% year on year. Among them, B-class model, the Magotan sales surged 28.4% year on year to 213,336 units. The Jetta, Bora and Golf also took the lead in their segments.

Targeting to sell 1,450,000 units in 2018, a figure that is only 45,000 units more than the 2017 sales target, FAW-VW prefers the prudent sales target mainly because most of its new products will be introduced in the second half of 2018, which may exert limited influence on its overall sales growth. Keeping up with the changing pace of market and sales and following up customers' needs, FAW-VW will focus on SUVs, A-class sedans and B-class models to build a comprehensive marketing offensive and bring forth new marketing ideas in 2018, Dong Xiuhui explained.
