Top 10 Luxury Auto Brands by 2017 Sales in China
Shanghai (ZXZC)- In 2017, among the top ten luxury auto brands, eight brands achieved doubt-digit YoY sales growth rate in the Chinese market. Though Audi performed a little bad during the first half of 2017, it regained the sales crown of the luxury auto brands in China with an annual sales reaching 597,866 units, up 1.1% year on year, which is the least sales growth among the top ten brands.
Audi sold 69,160 units in December, jumping 34.3% over the previous year, far exceeding December sales of BMW and Mercedes-Benz in China. Thanks to the robust sales growth in December, Audi finally surpassed BMW with a slight sales gap in 2017.
Following Audi, with 594,388 units delivered in 2017, BMW (Mainland China) posted an annual sales growth of 15.1% compared with 2016. In December, it sold 52,026 units, jumping 19.2% year on year.
With annual sales of 587,868 units (excluding sales of the Smart) in 2017, Mercedes-Benz took the third place among the top ten luxury auto brands. Its annual YoY sales growth set a new record high to 25.9%. It sold 48,140 units in December, lagging far behind its rivals, Audi and BMW.
Though Acura ranked last among the top ten luxury auto brands, it posted the largest YoY sales growth of 100.8% to 16,348 units in 2017. Lincoln delivered 54,124 units in 2017, surging 66% year on year, taking the second largest sales growth among the top ten luxury auto brands. With a total delivery of 175,489 units, Cadillac boasted the third largest sales growth to 50.8% year on year. Among the top ten luxury auto brands, only Audi and Lincoln posted one-digit YoY sales growth in 2017.
