Neta on Tuesday released several posters hinting that its electric sports car may not be far from release. This comes after spy photos of its sports car have been circulating on social media.

It's worth noting that there have been spy photos of what is allegedly Neta's sports car circulating in social media since two months ago.

These spy shots show a coupe with smooth lines, a long front end and a sloping rear end.

Neta's first electric sports car is likely to come from the company's platform called Shanhai and could have both single- and dual-motor versions, according to a November 1 report by Auto Home.

Neta is currently targeting the budget electric vehicle market, with the company currently delivering the Neta V and Neta U for around 100,000 yuan ($14,370).

On July 31, Neta officially launched its flagship sedan, the Neta S, with a price range of RMB 199,800 - 338,800. Deliveries of the model began on November 30.

Neta delivered 15,072 vehicles in November, up 50.5 percent from 10,013 units a year ago but down 16.3 percent from 18,016 units in October, data released earlier this month showed.

The company is set to become the latest player in the electric sports car market.

On September 15, GAC Aion, the NEV subsidiary of GAC Group, unveiled its new premium brand Hyper and its first model, the Hyper SSR electric sports car.

GAC Aion unveiled two versions of the Hyper SSR, with a pre-sale price of RMB 1.286 million ($184,000) for the regular version, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.3 seconds.

The other version, Hyper SSR Ultimate, is priced at RMB 1.686 million and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.9 seconds.

The model, which GAC Aion says is the fastest accelerating car on the planet, will begin mass production and delivery in October next year.

Ten days later, car tuning startup China Car Custom unveiled a sports car called the SC01 on September 25 and announced its official entry into the development and production of performance sports cars.

Unlike GAC Aion's Hyper SSR, which targets the high-end sports car market, the SC01 will be priced below RMB 300,000. The model will begin taking orders in the third quarter of 2023, with deliveries starting in the fourth quarter of next year.
