Nio's battery swap station network has completed initial coverage of a major city cluster in northwest China, the latest development in the construction of its replenishment facilities.
On December 5, Nio's battery swap stations achieved coverage of the city cluster, centered on Xi'an, the company announced today on its mobile app.
The city cluster is located in the center of inland China and is an important gateway to the east-central region from the west, connecting cities such as Xianyang, Hanzhong, Yan'an and Baoji, the Nio App article reads.
Nio completed its initial coverage of the region with 16 battery swap stations, connecting 14 cities in Shaanxi, Gansu and Shanxi, and covering sections of highways including the G5 Beijing-Kunming Highway and the G40 Shanghai-Xi'an Highway in the region.
Here is a video about the region shared by Nio.
The Xi'an city cluster is the latest in Nio's battery swap station network coverage, which now covers seven city clusters, including the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city cluster and the Yangtze River Delta city cluster.
On July 6, Nio said at the second Nio Power Day event that it will complete a battery swap network covering nine vertical highways, nine horizontal highways and 19 urban clusters in China by 2025.
Nio expects to have more than 4,000 battery swap stations worldwide by 2025, with 1,000 of them located overseas, the company said at the time.
By 2025, more than 90 percent of Nio customers will have at least one battery swap station within three kilometers of their homes.
The company's goal is to have more than 1,300 battery swap stations in China by the end of this year.
As of November 30, Nio had 1,245 battery swap stations in China, as well as 2,156 charging stations, according to figures monitored by CnEVPost.
Nio did not release updated figures for its battery swap stations going into December.
