Jinko Solar has achieved 100 percent green power in production at three of its sites.

Jinko Solar, one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar panels, said it is the first in the industry to have more than 50 percent of its energy supply from renewable sources at all of its production sites.

To date, the company's 14 sites in China, Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States have exceeded 51.3 percent clean energy use through a combination of hydro, solar and wind energy, the company said today.

The company aims to get the ratio up to 60 percent by the end of 2023, according to a news release.

Some of Jinko Solar's sites have already achieved using 100 percent green power in production, according to the company.

In recent years, Jinko Solar has accelerated the rollout of rooftop photovoltaic (PV) modules at plants in various regions to power plant operations, it said.

At the same time, the company has introduced energy storage systems to reduce the cost of electricity used by plants during peak periods by storing PV power in batteries, the release said.

Jinko Solar is also working to convince suppliers and partners to commit to using 100 percent renewable energy for business related to the company's products, according to the release.

Over the past few years, Jinko Solar has been expanding production at an average annual rate of 40 percent to 50 percent, with 2022 capacity already double that of 2021, it said.

As capacity grows larger, it becomes more difficult to use 100 percent renewable energy, the company said.

Currently, Jinko Solar's three production sites in Chuxiong, Yunnan, Leshan, Sichuan, and Penang, Malaysia, are already producing 100 percent green power through power purchase agreements with renewable energy suppliers, it said.
