Berkshire sold these shares on November 1 to cash out HK$560 million, reducing its stake in BYD to 17.92 percent.

Berkshire Hathaway, run by legendary US investor Warren Buffett, reduced its position in BYD H shares again this week, for the third time in the past few months.

Berkshire sold 3.297 million BYD H shares at an average price of HK$169.87 per share on November 1, cashing out HK$560 million and reducing its stake to 17.92 percent, according to a Hong Kong Stock Exchange filing.

This is the third time Warren Buffett's company has cut its holdings in BYD, after it sold the stock once in August and once in September.

On August 24, Berkshire sold 1.33 million shares of BYD traded in Hong Kong, bringing its stake down from 20.04 percent to 19.92 percent, the first reduction since Buffett bought BYD shares.

On September 1, Berkshire cut its holdings of 1.716 million H shares of BYD shares, bringing its stake in the company down to 18.87 percent, an HKEX filing shows.

In addition to Buffett, BlackRock also reduced its position in BYD's H shares in October.

BlackRock reduced its position in BYD H shares twice last month, dropping its stake from 6.21 percent to 5.85 percent, according to HKEX filings.

The asset management company's holding in BYD H shares was 6.21 percent on October 11, which dropped to 6.17 percent on October 12, and to 5.85 percent on October 13.

Notably, BYD reported a strong October sales performance yesterday.

The company sold 217,816 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in October, a new all-time high and the second consecutive month in which it exceeded 200,000 units.

On October 28, BYD announced its third-quarter earnings, showing that it reported net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 5.7 billion ($786 million) in the third quarter, up 350.1 percent year-on-year and up 105.1 percent from the second quarter.

BYD's shares traded in Hong Kong rose 5.12 percent to HK$197 today, giving it a cumulative gain of 19 percent for the week.
