Tesla Model Y tops all SUV sales in China in Sept

Tesla's Model Y sold 46,694 retail units in China in September, and the Model 3 sold 30,919 units.

In the September SUV sales rankings, which include internal combustion engine vehicles, the BYD Song came in second with 45,934 units and the Haval H6 came in third with 16,887 units.

BYD Yuan Plus came in fifth with 16,701 units and BYD Tang came in sixth with 15,051 units.

If SUVs powered entirely by internal combustion engines are excluded, then Tesla Model Y and BYD Song ranked the top two, followed by BYD Yuan Plus and BYD Tang.

Li Auto's Li L9 ranked 7th in the September new energy SUV sales ranking with 10,123 units, the Zeekr 001 ranked 8th with 8,276 units, and the Nio ES6 ranked 14th with 3,507 units.

The Tesla Model 3 returned to the new energy sedan sales ranking, coming in fourth on the CPCA's list.

The top-selling new energy sedan in September was SAIC-GM-Wuling's Hongguang Mini EV at 37,416 units, followed by BYD Qin at 37,415 units and BYD Han at 31,336 units.

Among all sedans, including ICE vehicles, the Model 3 ranked 6th.
