BYD will hold its online European product launch event on September 28, days before the local launch of Nio, as Chinese automakers ramp up efforts in international markets.
The largest Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker announced Thursday that it will hold its first BYD Europe Product Premiere event at 11 am CET (5 pm Beijing time) on September 28.
"This milestone marks a significant step in our journey to cool the Earth by 1℃. BYD – short for Build Your Dreams - is fully committed to a sustainable future through its pioneering technology," the company said on its website.
BYD will bring a range of electric vehicles to Europe to expose local consumers to its business, products and philosophy, it said.
In this virtual event, BYD will share information including the models it offers for Europe as well as pricing. Here's what BYD mentioned:
Mission and commitment to a better future
Battery and electric vehicle platform technology
Tailor-made vehicle connectivity innovations
Design philosophy
Product overview of the exciting models for Europe
The state-of-the-art automated production facilities
And, last but not least, we will announce European starting prices
The company also shared a short video.
Separately, British car dealer Pendragon said earlier this week that BYD will officially enter the UK market in the fourth quarter, and that it will be BYD's partner in launching its UK business.
The first BYD model to be launched in the UK is the Atto 3, which is expected to be available in the fourth quarter, according to Pendragon.
Notably, a month ago, BYD said it will launch a number of NEV models for the European market this fall to meet the diverse needs of local consumers.
The models BYD will launch in Europe include the Tang, Han, and the Yuan Plus, which will be locally named Atto 3, it said on August 27.
BYD has entered into strategic partnerships with a number of leading European passenger car dealers to provide products and services to consumers. Many offline BYD dealership stores will open in the fall, with the first vehicles expected to begin delivery in the fourth quarter, BYD previously said.
As part of its efforts to increase expansion in international markets, BYD updated the domain name on the group's homepage on September 22 to include "global", changing it from byd.com to bydglobal.com.
BYD's European launch was days ahead of the planned activities of its local counterpart, Nio.
On September 22, Nio announced that it would hold its Nio Berlin 2022 European launch event on October 7 local time, which appears to be its European version of Nio Day.
Nio did not announce what the Nio Berlin 2022 event will involve, though it can be expected that the company's flagship sedan, the ET7, is expected to be officially introduced to European consumers at the event.
