SAIC launches MG Mulan with starting price of $18,620 in China

SAIC said it has sent 10,000 units of the MG Mulan compact crossover to Europe, and the model will be available in more than 80 countries next year.

The EV is available in China in four options, three of which are rear-wheel drive single-motor models and one is a four-wheel drive dual-motor model.

The single-motor version of the model has an electric motor with a maximum power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 250 Nm.

Its dual-motor version has a maximum power of 315 kW and a peak torque of 600 Nm and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.

The MG Mulan's battery pack was jointly developed by SAIC and CATL and is offered in two options: a lithium iron phosphate battery with a capacity of 51 kWh and a ternary lithium battery with a capacity of 64 kWh. The former takes 28 minutes to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent, while the latter takes 23 minutes.

Two models with the 51-kWh pack have a CLTC range of 425 km and are priced at RMB 129,800 ($18,620) and 139,800 after subsidies, respectively.

The single-motor model with the 64-kWh pack has a CLTC range of 520 km and is priced at RMB 163,800 after subsidies.

The dual-motor model with the 64-kWh battery pack has a range of 460 kilometers and is priced at RMB 186,800 after subsidies.

In addition to its launch in China, the MG Mulan will also be available in 17 additional countries including: the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland, Finland, Iceland, Austria, Luxembourg and Malta.

The MG Mulan will be named MG4 Electric in overseas markets and will be offered in Germany in three versions priced at 31,990 euros, 35,990 euros and 37,990 euros.

SAIC said it has already sent 10,000 units of the model to Europe and it will be available in more than 80 countries next year.
