Tesla adds 48 Supercharger stations in Chinese mainland in July

Tesla added 48 new Supercharger stations, including 198 Superchargers, in the Chinese mainland in July, the automaker announced today on its official WeChat account.

The new Superchargers are located in 33 cities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Nanjing, and all use V3 Superchargers.

In August, Tesla expects to build new Supercharger stations in 20 cities, including Beijing, Changsha, Chengdu, Zhengzhou and Hangzhou, according to the company.

To date, Tesla has opened more than 35,000 Superchargers worldwide, it said, repeating previous figures.

In the Chinese mainland, Tesla has opened more than 1,200 Supercharger stations, including more than 8,900 Superchargers. It also has more than 700 destination charging stations, offering more than 1,800 destination charging piles.

These facilities cover more than 370 cities and regions in China, Tesla said.

It's worth noting that several areas of China, particularly Sichuan and Chongqing in the southwest, are currently being affected by hot weather, and the power crunch is having an impact on the electric vehicle experience.

Tesla recently said that as of August 17, only two of the 14 Supercharger stations in Chengdu, Sichuan, remained open, while the rest were in restricted service or temporarily closed. The Supercharger stations in Chongqing, on the other hand, are all in service restricted or temporarily closed.

Separately, Tesla opened a new experience center in Shanghai's Minhang district on August 18.

The experience center covers an area of 2,180 square meters and has sales functions including sales consultation, test drives and test rides, as well as after-sales functions including repairs.
