Nio Day 2022 to be held in one of these 10 cities

Guangzhou, Harbin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Jinan, Qingdao, Shijiazhuang, Wuhan and Xi'an are the 10 cities that have made the shortlist for Nio Day 2022.

Nio (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866, SGX: Nio) has announced the initial shortlist of cities for the Nio Day 2022 event, following the launch of the selection process last week.

Applications for Nio Day 2022 bid cities closed on July 17, and Nio received submissions from car clubs in many cities, the company said in an article posted on the Nio App today.

The Nio Day organizing committee, after conducting preliminary venue checks for each city, finally confirmed the following applicant cities:

Guangzhou, Harbin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Hefei, Jinan, Qingdao, Shijiazhuang, Wuhan, Xi'an

Nio launched the process of selecting hosting cities for Nio Day 2022 on July 15. Cities that have hosted Nio Day events within eight years will not be able to apply again.

Candidate cities need to have a venue that meets the needs of large-scale performances, has a minimum capacity of 8,000 people, and the venue has an available slot for 10 consecutive days between December 1, 2022 and January 15, 2023, according to Nio.

On August 13, the Nio Day organizing committee will nominate three candidate cities for user voting.

From August 15 to August 25, these three candidate cities will be showcased in the Nio App. From August 26 to August 27, users can vote.

Last December 18, Nio unveiled the new sedan Nio ET5 at the Nio Day 2021 event in Suzhou, and its delivery is expected to start in September.

As of now, there are no clues to suggest what new products or plans Nio will unveil on Nio Day 2022.

The 10 preliminary cities announced by Nio today are all Chinese provincial capitals and local economic centers.

Hefei is home to the Nio-JAC advanced manufacturing base and NeoPark, and Guangzhou is home to Xpeng Motors (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) headquarters.

Harbin is located in Heilongjiang province in Northeast China, Haikou is in Hainan province in the southern-most part of China, and the other cities are mainly located in eastern and central China.
