Ford to introduce over 50 new models in China by 2025


Shanghai (ZXZC)- After more than ten years’ large investment and rapid development, Ford today released its future development strategy of the next phase for China market, namely China 2025 Plan.

The plan will focus on SUV models and aims to introduce more intelligent-connected models and electric models. This strategy is expected to streamline its business structure in China and help the company to understand better the needs of local consumers.

According to the plan, Ford is going to launch more than 50 new models in China by the end of 2025, including eight new SUV models and at least a total of 15 electric models under Ford and Lincoln brands. Besides, Zotye- Ford JV will launch an all-new range of affordable all-electric vehicles.

From 2019, the America company will produce 5 more models in China, including a luxury SUV model from Lincoln brand and the first global battery electric small SUV. At the same time, Ford will step up efforts to strengthen its engineering and R&D ability in China to support the plan.

Ford said it would continue to cooperate with Baidu to develop autonomous vehicles in China. By the end of 2019, all new Ford models produced or sold in China should feature internet-connected services.

The announcement says that the company will enhance the cooperation with its Chinese automaker partners, Changan and JMC, and further optimize its market, sales and service management in China and launch new single distribution services division in 2018, to reduce cost and offer Chinese customers better and consistent experience.
