Shanghai (ZXZC)-On Nov. 30, Dongfeng Motor Corporation announced a statement on the changing of its Chinese name. According to the statement, Dongfeng Motor Corporation has made some systematic renovations as required by central government. 

After finishing the renovation, Dongfeng Motor Corporation added two Chinese words, Jituan(meaning group in English) and youxian (meaning limited in English) before the Chinese word gongsi (meaning company in English) as its new Chinese name, while its English name remained the same as before. Dongfeng Motor Corporation had registered the new name at the State Administration for Industry & Commerce of PRC on Nov. 14. In addition, Dongfeng Motor Corporation will inherit the recorded items on various professional and special certificates and rights, obligations, credit rights and liabilities on the contracts (or agreements) under its former name.

Dongfeng Motor Corporation was established in 1969 and it is one of the largest mainstay auto companies governing directly by central government. Now, Dongfeng Motor Corporation has total assets of RMB 292.1 billion and has a staff number of 166,000. Dongfeng Motor Corporation produced and sold over 4,200,000 vehicles. In 2016, Dongfeng Motor Corporation ranked No.81 among the Fortune Global 500. 

It is said that this is the second time for Dongfeng Motor Corporation to change its Chinese name. The company's original name was Second Automotive Works. It changed its name in 1992 for the first time. Now, the new company name was changed correspondingly on the official network of Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
