Xpeng reaches 200,000 units cumulative delivery milestone

Xpeng Motors (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) surpassed 200,000 cumulative deliveries this week, becoming the latest Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker to reach the milestone after Nio (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866, SGX: Nio).
Xpeng announced the progress on its WeChat account today, three and a half years after its first model -- the Xpeng G 3 -- went on sale in December 2018.
The milestone means user trust, and starting with the G9, Xpeng's new product matrix will begin to accelerate, the company's chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said on Weibo.
Xpeng delivered 29 vehicles in 2018 and 12,728, 27,041 and 98,155 from 2019-2021, respectively. In the first five months of the year, it delivered 53,688 units.
This means that Xpeng has delivered 8,359 units in June so far.
The company did not disclose which model the 200,000th delivery was for.
Xpeng's current models on sale include the P7 and P5 sedans and the G3 SUV facelift, the G3i, with its flagship SUV, the G9, expected to be available later this year.
Earlier this month, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released the latest batch of models that will be allowed to be sold for public comment, and the Xpeng G9 was included.
A poster by Xpeng on April 6 hinted that it will officially launch the G9 in June. Previously there were rumors that its deliveries will begin as early as the end of August.
Xpeng delivered 10,125 vehicles in May, up 12.5 percent from April and 78 percent from the same month last year, according to information it announced earlier this month.
The company resumed two-shift production at its Zhaoqing plant from mid-May as the supply chain and major manufacturing regions in China began to gradually recover, Xpeng previously said, adding that it was making every effort to accelerate delivery of the strong backlog of orders it has on hand.
On May 15, Xpeng's local counterpart Nio delivered its 200,000th mass-produced vehicle since its inception.
