Nio (NYSE: NIO, HKG: 9866, SGX: Nio) today announced another development in its battery swap coverage in China, the first in the past two months.
With the company's battery swap station at a highway service area in Yuxian county, Yangquan city, in North China's Shanxi province, put into service on June 10, Nio's battery swap network now has complete coverage of the G5 Beijing-Kunming Highway, it said today.
This is Nio's 16th battery swap station in Shanxi, and the company's 964th in China.
The G5 Beijing-Kunming Highway is 2,865 kilometers long and passes through six provinces and cities including Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan, making it one of the main routes connecting the north and south of China.
Nio has installed 19 battery swap stations along the highway, one every 160 kilometers on average, according to the company.
The completion of battery swap network coverage on the G5 Beijing-Kunming Highway will enable users in Beijing, Kunming and along the way to travel more conveniently, Nio said.
The highway runs through the north and south of China, and there are many variations of terrain along the way, with plenty of natural and human landscapes of varying styles.

Since Shanghai, where it has its global headquarters, went into a phased lockdown on March 28, Nio's operations have been significantly limited, although its production base have not been affected much because it is located in Hefei, a city in central Anhui province.
Now that Shanghai has largely returned to normal life, Nio has been more timely in announcing the progress of its infrastructure development.
The company last made major progress on its battery swap network in mid-April, when it announced on April 14 that the battery swap network covering the highways of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was officially opened.
Nio added four new battery swap stations today, bringing the total to 964, of which 247 are located along the highway, data monitored by CnEVPost shows. The company plans to have 1,300 of these facilities by the end of this year.
As of June 10, Nio also had 832 supercharging stations in China with 4,592 piles, 718 destination charging stations with 4,154 piles, and access to more than 500,000 third-party charging piles.
