SAIC chief engineer said to leave

Shanghai (ZXZC)- On November 23rd, it was said that SAIC chief engineer Cheng Jinglei left SAIC. A local media has confirmed that Cheng has become the third executive leaving SAIC, following former Vice President Zhang Hailiang and former CFO Gu Feng.

As the chairman of SAIC, Chen Hong strives to make SAIC bigger and stronger.  Therefore, he focuses on the development of SAIC independent brand. As the chief engineer of SAIC, Cheng Jinglei is mainly responsible for SAIC brand technology management, considered as the general designers and planners of SAIC’s technology success. The departure of Chen may bring challenges to SAIC's own brand business.

As the successive dimission of SAIC executives, the society thinks the main reason is the salary limit to vice president of the state-owned company. However, the most fundamental reason may be the industry reform. In recent years, the intelligent electric trend makes the traditional automobile industry in the teeth of the storm, facing with a bright and challenging future and a large number of cross-industry enterprises aims to enter, facing a new round of development. Traditional car insiders all seek other personal occupation career opportunities and begin to change.

The phenomenon that traditional car executives jump to Internet car companies began in 2015. As the representative of the earlier cross-border car company, LETV attracted the former Infiniti China general manager Lv Zhengyu, the former deputy general manager of Guangzhou TOYOTA, the former GAC GIO general manager Gao Jingshen and several traditional car professions. Then there are some other emerging car enterprises competing with traditional car companies in recruiting talents.
