As people in China celebrate the traditional Lantern Festival, Nio is starting its infrastructure initiatives for the Year of the Tiger.
The company today put a battery swap station into operation in Zhuhai, Guangdong province in southern China, the first this month and the first since China entered the Year of the Tiger.
As of today, Nio has 837 battery swap stations, 669 supercharging stations and 656 destination charging stations in China.
The Chinese New Year holiday runs from January 31 to February 6, with February 1 being the first day of the Year of the Tiger.
Today is the traditional Lantern Festival, which arrives on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar and signals the end of the Chinese New Year celebrations.
The last time Nio added a battery swap station was on January 31, the first day of the Chinese New Year holiday and the last day of the lunar year of the Ox.
Nio has not added any battery swap stations in the past half month, but did add a destination charging station on February 11 and a supercharging station on February 13, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
At the Nio Day 2021 event held in Suzhou on December 18 last year, Nio announced the new sedan ET5 and said it planned to have more than 1,300 battery swap stations, more than 6,000 supercharging stations and more than 10,000 destination charging stations by the end of 2022.

From 2022 to 2025, Nio will add 600 battery swap stations per year in the Chinese market, it previously said.
Nio said to have launched development of sub-brand model with planned annual capacity of 60,000 units
