Mercedes-Benz responded today after a joint statement from dozens of Chinese owners complaining about motor problems with the EQC drew attention.
Mercedes said it has followed up with the relevant dealers on the feedback from some EQC customers regarding the use of their vehicles and has obtained information about those customers with their authorization, according to a statement from the company.
Most of the customers' vehicles have been inspected or repaired and are now in normal use, and there are a few customers whose vehicles have been repaired and are waiting at the dealership for customers to pick up their vehicles, the statement said.
Mercedes-Benz is contacting these customers individually to proactively understand their concerns and respond to them, according to the statement.
"We are also actively studying customer feedbacks on their vehicles and will use them as a basis for developing specific product optimization plans," the statement said.
Earlier today, CnEVPost reported that 68 people claiming to be owners of the Mercedes-Benz EQC issued a joint statement on January 18, saying they were asked to replace the motor or power cell after their vehicles experienced at least one motor failure.
These owners demanded that Daimler China admit its mistake and provide a reasonable response as soon as possible, according to the statement circulating on social networks.
Local media Ai Caijing quoted one owner named Huang Xin as saying that a group chat he was part of for protests had more than 300 members and that more than 150 people had reported problems with motor damage.
