Quros design head resigned, likely to join NEV company

Shanghai (ZXZC)-It is revealed that Gert Volker Hildebrand, Quros's vice president of design has submitted his resignation and will leave Quros this Friday. The automaker attributed Gert's leaving to his private reasons and he may not work in China any more.

It was once Quros's pride that it had owned a core senior executive team with strong international background. With the leavings of former vice presidents Volker Steinwascher, Stefano Villanti, Pihl Murtaugh, and Gert Volker Hildebrand, Quros's internationality faded out quickly, and these personnel changes spurred the speculation that Quros's senior executives were intended to let their local team to take over Quros.

As the designer of Quros's logo and also the major participant of Quros models, Gert Volker Hildebrand is considered as the soul for Quros's design. During his 40-year career, Gert Volker Hildebrand had served at Volkswagen and BMW and was responsible for model designing. Some of his masterpieces include the Countryman, Cabrio, VW Golf III and the OpelKadett E.

Due to the international executive team and its positioning as a Chinese company with European standard, Quros announced its slogan as China's high-end self-owned brand since its foundation. However, the Quros 3 and 5 didn't sell well since its first model hit the market in 2013. While other self-owned vehicle brands grow rapidly, sales of Quros becomes poorer day by day. Quros delivered only 14,000 units in 2015 and 24,000 units in 2016, and in 2017, the cumulative sales in previous eight months reached around 9,600 units.

The problem on how to improve sales volume is the major task for Quros after the reconstruction of its internal leaders. According to the person briefed on the matter, Gert Volker Hildebrand will join a NEV company called Bordrin Motor.
