Nio added three new battery swap stations today, bringing the total to 699, just one away from its goal of 700 this year.

The company's 700th battery swap station will go live on December 10, meaning it will reach its annual goal promised at Nio Power Day this July ahead of schedule, Nio said in an article posted on its app.

"This will be the achievement of a phased goal and a new beginning on the road ahead," Nio said.

Prior to July, Nio's goal was to have 500 battery swap stations by the end of the year. At the inaugural Nio Power Day event on July 9, the company's co-founder and president, Qin Lihong, announced that the goal was raised to more than 700 stations.

On September 21, Nio announced that it would complete its battery swap network covering eight major highways and four densely populated metropolitan areas by the Chinese New Year in 2022.

Nio said at the time that it aimed to have 169 such facilities along the highway by that time. To date, that number stands at 149.

Among the new battery swap stations Nio added today is one in Shanghai, bringing the number of facilities in the city to 60. Nio also has 63 supercharging stations, 21 destination charging stations, and access to 32,942 third-party charging piles in Shanghai.

The company also added two new supercharging stations today, bringing the total to 534, offering 3,020 charging piles, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.

Nio also has 600 destination charging stations in China, offering 3,319 charging piles and access to more than 430,000 third-party charging piles.

The figures of the below table are from the information published by Nio on Weibo and the official app.

Abbreviations in the table:

Swap = battery swap stations

Chargers = supercharging stations

Destination = destination charging stations
