Auto outlook of 19th CPC National Congress

Shanghai (ZXZC)-On Oct. 18, the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party (CPC) was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. General Secretary Xi Jinping delivered a report to the Congress. With decades of hard work, socialism with Chinese characteristics has crossed the threshold into a new era. As an important industry for national economy, Chinese auto industry also has entered into a new era. During the event, many topics related with automobile were heatedly discussed, and auto celebrities were also shared their ideas with the public.

According to Xu Heyi, delegate to the 19th CPC National Congress and Chairman of BAIC Group, Chinese auto industry has undergone its five gold years since the opening up of the 18th CPC National Congress. Over the past five years, China has been the largest auto output and sales market globally, and also the world's largest NEV market with world-leading NEV technologies. Generally speaking, Chinese auto industry has made a great progress in its comprehensive competitiveness, transformation of industrial structure, matching ability of parts industry, etc.

In Xi's report, China's economy has been transitioning from a phase of rapid growth to a stage of high-quality development, and also entering into a crucial phase of transforming development mode, optimizing economic structure and shifting growth impetus. Establishing a modern economy system is an urgent requirement to cross the threshold and the strategic goal for China's development. Therefore, the only way for China to transform from a big country to a powerful country in automobile industry is adhering to the way of quality development and taking high priority of strengthening the development of self-owned vehicle brands and independent innovation. In the new era, the NEVs will be the key to the transformation and upgrade for Chinese auto industry, and China has maintained some advantages in NEV market.

It's really rare worldwide that China made so many supportive policies to develop NEVs. These supportive policies not only provide a market with huge potential for both domestic and international car manufacturers, but also push foreign automaker to abide by the regulations of Chinese market, diversifying the market and also reinforcing the leading position for China's self-owned vehicle brands in NEV sector. Xu Heyi believed that China must spare no effort to develop the NEVs with unprecedentedly high priority both in tactics and measures. He also added that China's self-owned NEVs would ascend in the first tier of the world's NEVs by 2035. Miao Wei, Minister of Industry and Information Technology also said that government will keep a close eye on the development of the NEV industry, and adopt various effective measures to support its development.

With the changing industrial background of quality development, supply-side reform, innovation, transportation, green development in new era, Xu Heyi stated that Chinese automakers need to step up efforts in R&D and marketing, expand the capacity of high-tech and high-value-added products, and invest heavily in NEVs while upgrading traditional petrol engines.
