Tesla scales back number of speakers in 'Premium Interior' for China-made Model 3/Y
Tesla has reduced the number of speakers included in the "Premium Interior" by one, leaving the prices unchanged.
Tesla has scaled back the configuration of the China-made Model 3 and Model Y's "Premium Interior", a small but noteworthy reduction.
According to Tesla China's website, the number of speakers in the "Premium Interior" has been reduced from "14 speakers + 1 subwoofer" to "13 speakers + 1 subwoofer".
In addition to the "Premium Interior" (高级版内饰套件), Tesla's interior package in China also includes an "Upgraded Interior" (升级版内饰套件), which corresponds to the "Partial Premium Interior" it offers in the US.
Among Tesla's China offerings, only the entry-level model comes with " Upgraded Interior ", while the Model 3 Performance and all Model Y versions come with "Premium Interior".
On Tesla's US website, "Premium Interior" still offers 14 speakers, 1 subwoofer, 2 amps and immersive sound.
Prices for these models have not changd.
Information on Tesla's website shows that Chinese consumers who reserve their vehicles now will have an estimated delivery date of next year for all models.
Late last month, Tesla raised the price of the entry-level Model 3 and entry-level Model Y in China by RMB 4,752.
The price hike is based on next year's retreat from China's new energy vehicle subsidies, as owners who place orders now will need until 2022 to get deliveries, Tesla sources previously told nbd.com.cn.
China's Ministry of Finance released plans on April 23, 2020, for the country's subsidies for new energy vehicles to be scaled back each year, requiring them to be reduced by 10 percent, 20 percent and 30 percent each year from 2020-2022, respectively, from the previous year.
The subsidies available to buyers will be based on when the new vehicles receive their license plates, which means that if consumers place an order at the end of the year but get delivery next year, the amount of state subsidies they can enjoy will be reduced by 30 percent compared to 2021.
