The supercharger station, located in Shanghai, offers four DC fast-charging piles and is currently open to customers who have pre-ordered the Lyriq free of charge.

After making its first electric model, the Lyriq, available for pre-order for Chinese consumers late last month, Cadillac has built its first supercharger station in China, marking the beginning of the brand's deployment of replenishment facilities here.

The supercharger station is located in the fourth basement parking lot of Raffles City Shanghai and offers four DC fast-charging piles, according to Cadillac's Weibo announcement Monday.

Although deliveries of the Lyriq model have not yet begun, Cadillac is already allowing consumers who reserve the model to charge their other brands of electric vehicles they own at the supercharger station for free.

Cadillac said the supercharger is currently in a free experience period and may begin charging at the end of that period.

Cadillac did not specify the station's specifications, although it did release images showing that the station supports 90 kW of charging power and up to 1,000 volts.

On November 17, SAIC Motor, a joint venture between General Motors and SAIC Group, announced that the Cadillac Lyriq, the first all-electric crossover and flagship of GM's luxury brand, is available for pre-order by Chinese consumers.

The Cadillac Lyriq's first version in China is a single-motor, rear-drive, long-range version priced at RMB 439,700 ($68,940) and is expected to be delivered in mid-2022.

The model is based on the Ultium electric vehicle platform and is the first model on the platform.

The Ultium Center, the plant equipped with the platform, was completed and put into production on October 15 and will fully accelerate the platform's adoption in the Chinese market, SAIC announced last month.

The Cadillac Lyriq measures 5,003/1,978/1,635mm and has a wheelbase of 3,094mm.

The model has a range of more than 650km under CLTC conditions and supports full life-cycle DC fast charging for the entire vehicle, gaining a range of 96km in 10 minutes, SAIC-GM said.
