Nio today announced a partnership with Dolby Laboratories to provide Dolby Atmos as standard on its flagship sedan, the ET7, which will be delivered in the first quarter of next year.

The company unveiled the Nio ET7 sedan at Nio Day 2020, Nio's annual event, on January 9 of this year. Previously, all of its models were SUVs, including the ES8, ES6, and EC6.

The Nio ET7 comes standard with 23 speakers and has a total output of 1000W. Its four main channels use a 3-way speaker that is a combination of high, mid and bass units, and has a subwoofer with four overhead speakers.

Combining a leading active tuning algorithm and Dolby Atmos' excellent detail and clarity, the ET7 provides an immersive listening experience beyond users' expectations, Nio said.

Nio Radio, the exclusive radio station for Nio users, will also support Dolby Atmos, enabling subscribers to enjoy an immersive listening experience on the ET7.

"The collaboration between Dolby and Nio will make users more deeply bonded with the music they love, and jointly push forward the in-car experience," said Mark Zhou, Nio's Executive Vice President and Chairman of the Product Committee.

"Music is an important aspect of the in-car experience. Whether you want to immerse yourself in the music or simply complement your drive – once you experience the subtle detail and raw power of Dolby Atmos – music in your car will never be the same. We cannot wait to bring that extraordinary listening experience to users with the ET7," John Couling, Senior Vice President, Entertainment, Dolby Laboratories, said.

The Nio ET7 is priced at RMB 448,000 ($70,100) - 526,000 before subsidies. If users choose Nio's battery rental option BaaS, the pre-subsidy price drops to RMB 378,000-398,000, with a monthly battery rental of RMB 980-1,480.

Nio has never disclosed the number of orders for the ET7, but has said several times that the number of orders exceeds any previous vehicle and exceeds expectations.

On November 10, William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of Nio, said in a conference call after the company announced its third-quarter earnings that Nio plans to have the ET7 available in showrooms around the Chinese New Year, which comes February 1.

Eric Liu, general manager of the company's Shenzhen/Dongguan regional company, said on the Nio App yesterday that the ET7 will be on display at the Nio House in Shenzhen's Ping An Financial Center on November 19, marking the model's first appearance in the Greater Bay Area.
