MG and Roewe witness sales climb and the 1,000,000th unit vehicle rolls off from production line of SAIC Motor’s Pukou Factory
Shanghai (ZXZC)-Currently, the 1,000,000th unit vehicle successfully rolled off from SAIC Nanjing Pukou Factory production line, marking SAIC self-independent brand entering into a new period.
SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle had a total sales volume of 320,000 units in 2016 with a year-on-year growth of 89%. MG and Roewe sold 311,358 units in the previous eight months, growing 98.57% compared with the same period last year. SAIC Motor has become one of domestic brands with the fastest growths.
The Roewe RX3 successfully rolled off its production line in SAIC Motor's Zhengzhou factory in September this year. Till now, SAIC Motor has three factories. Besides, it's expected that Zhengzhou factory will have an annual capacity ranging from 360,000 units to 400,000 units.
Following the development trend for Internet vehicles and SUV models, the Roewe RX5 reaches high sales volume since its launch. The Roewe i6 and the MG ZS also perform well. It's quite possible that the Roewe RX3 and the New MG6 will also take the lead in the segment market.
Nanjing Pukou factory mainly produces the New MG3, New MG6 and several models under Roewe brand. The New MG6 catches great attention since its official photo released, and it's quite possible that it would catch up with and surpass the Roewe i6's sales volume in the future.
SAIC Group announced that it will establish a partnership firm to engage in fund businesses with Zhongyuan Asset Investment Company with an investment of RMB 6 billion on Sept. 26. It's predicted that Zhengzhou factory will have an annual capacity of 300,000 units for its first period project, and SAIC Motor will have a total annual production capacity ranging from 900,000 units to 1,000,000 units when Zhengzhou factory's second period project is completed.
Data also shows that SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle sold 41,000 units in August with a year-on-year growth of 50%. Its total sales volume reaches 311,000 units in the previous eight months, growing 98.5% compared with the same period last year. SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle raises its sales target for alternative energy vehicles from 80,000 units to 100,000 units, and its annual sales target is set to be 500,000 units.
