Chery will mass produce Level 3 autonomous vehicles in 2019
Shanghai (ZXZC)- At the Changzhou forum, held by ChinaEV100 on Sept. 24, Huang Yong, executive director of Chery’s intelligent vehicle technology center, introduced Chery’s progress in intelligent vehicle and its plan to mass produce vehicles featuring Level 3 autonomy by the end of 2019.
When talking about Chery’s autonomous driving plans, Huang said the automaker has included the autonomous features into its model planning. According to him, Chery will strive to finish developing the functionality by 2019 or 2020 and plan to mass produce vehicles with Level 3 autonomous features at that time.
Huang also said at the forum the automaker will conduct Level 4 autonomy research at the same time and the mass production of Level 4 system is expected to be realized after 2021.
In connected technology area, Huang said that the EXEED, which is scheduled to hit the market in the end of 2018, will be the carmaker’s first intelligent car model with IQTEC (Lion system). The system is capable of face recognition, intelligent navigation and also can integrate smart home service, internet service and personalized service into the system.
At the 2017 Shanghai Auto Show, Chery and Baidu signed an strategic agreement. Two companies will cooperate in connected vehicles, highly autonomous driving and self-driving system to promote the development of autonomous technology and its commercialization.
