Shanghai (ZXZC)-On September 25th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said the guideline for our country’s vehicle connectivity standard system has been open to public opinions. According to the guideline, China will basically complete building vehicle connectivity standard system in 2020.

MIIT pointed out that it will speed the construction of wireless communication network and key technology standards. This goal will be completed in two phases. By the end of 2018, study on basic technology will be completed. In 2020, the department will finish setting 5G supportive connected vehicle industry standard to further improve information communication safety and data safety standard.

In addition, the guideline also makes plans for relevant electronic products and service. The guideline stipulates that the formulation of in-car electronic products and software standards shall begin before 2018. In 2020, key technology and test standards of in-car electronic products and service platform are expected to be completed.

It is estimated that by 2020, the value of our country’s vehicle connectivity market will be over RMB 50 billion. Certain research suggests roads’ capacity will be improved by 30 percent and the highway’s capacity will be improved by 50 percent. All of these suggest great potential which any company would like to exploit.

And also, some companies try to seize some market shares through crossing the industry boundaries. For example, on September 18, Tencent, an Internet giant, signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Company. Two companies will develop business cooperation in vehicle connectivity and other fields.
