Guangdong's Foshan City to provide subsidies of up to about $3,085 to consumers who purchase NEVs
More and more local governments in China are introducing measures to accelerate the acceptance of new energy vehicles.
The city of Foshan in Guangdong Province is offering consumers subsidies of up to RMB 20,000 ($3,085) for the purchase of new energy vehicles, according to a recently released draft of a work plan for comment by the Commerce Bureau of Foshan Municipality.
According to the plan, consumers will be given comprehensive subsidies in the use of new energy vehicles, including energy replenishment, parking and access, when purchasing new energy vehicles, replacing for new energy vehicles and collectively purchasing new energy vehicles, up to RMB 20,000 per vehicle.
For consumers who purchase a new vehicle, the new vehicle must be purchased between September 1, 2021 and August 31, 2022 to qualify for the subsidy.
For consumers replacing their cars, the sale and cancellation of the old vehicle needs to be within the above time frame and the registration of the newly purchased vehicle needs to be completed in Foshan.
The program also gives incentives to car sales companies with sales growth of 7 percent or more year-over-year in 2021 and sales of RMB 10 million or more, with a maximum incentive of RMB 1 million.
And the program gives incentives of up to RMB 300,000 yuan to car sales enterprises with sales of RMB 5 million yuan and above in 2021.
