The Pocco Duoduo, a new car from local Chinese carmaker Pocco that competes with the Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, will open for pre-sale on August 6, the company announced Thursday.

The car will start at RMB 28,800 ($4,455), with the premium version priced at RMB 39,800. It has an NEDC range of up to 170km.

The Pocco Duoduo has similar minivan styling to the Hongguang Mini EV. Its length, width and height are 3325*1500*1588mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2275mm, which is a bit larger than the Hongguang Mini EV.

Pocco Duoduo is equipped with a drive motor with a maximum power of 29 kW and a maximum torque of 110 N/m.

It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery with 10.3kWh and 14.5kWh capacity options and a NEDC range of 128km and 170km respectively.

The car is a 5-door, 4-seat design with a rear storage capacity of 987L.

In terms of power performance and inner space, the Pocco Duoduo has a significant advantage over the Hongguang Mini EV.

The two are in the same price range, but the former has a big competitive advantage and may bring some pressure to the Hongguang Mini EV.

Last month, another Chinese car company Letin also launched a pure electric mini car, "Letin Mango Hunan TV co-branded model", with a price range of RMB 39,800~54,900 yuan.

The car is also a five-door, four-seat design, with a larger body than the Pocco Duoduo, measuring 3620*1610*1525mm in length, width and height, with a wheelbase of 2,440mm.

Why does SAIC continue to produce Mini EV when each car contributes less than $14 net profit?
