Volvo China Sales VP Xiang Dongping may Resign

Shanghai September 13th, 2017 ZXZC-News comes around that Xiang Dongping, sales VP of Volvo China is confirmed of resignation.

It's known that Xiang joined in Volvo in October, 2016 to replace Liu Yan to be Volvo China's Executive Vice President of Sales Company, taking in charge of sales and network construction businesses.

Working in SAIC Volkswagen for more than 20 years, Xiang is well-experienced in auto sales and marketing work. But he chose to leave Volvo China only in less than one year's time. It's revealed that Volvo China's senior management team is quite aggressive in products' marketing and sales work and many problems occur in managers' communication, resulting in many senior managers' resignation.

Xiang is the fourth senior manager to resign in Volvo China this year, following Ning Shuyong, Yi Han and Gao Junlai. His job is temporarily replaced by Sun Yiwen, Strategy Director of Marketing Department.

Data shows that Volvo has a total sales volume of 61,200 units in China with year-on-year growth of 30.5%, greater than the average yearly growth of 11% in 2016. But it still lags behind other luxury brands including Cadillac, Lexus and JLR.

Volvo's management team seems quite worried under the great market pressure. It's said that Yuan Xiaolin, Global Senior VP of Volvo Group is unsatisfied on the Chinese market department's performance and a downsizing plan is rumored.
