China's July auto sales are estimated at 1.82 million units, down 9.7 percent from June and 13.8 percent from a year ago, data released Wednesday by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed.

Among them, passenger car sales fell 11.2 percent year-over-year and commercial vehicle sales dropped 27.1 percent, the data showed.

From January to July, China's auto sales were estimated at 14.71 million units, up 19 percent from a year earlier. Among them, passenger car sales increased 20.5 percent year-on-year and commercial vehicle sales increased 13.3 percent year-over-year.

Major new car makers bucked the trend, with Nio releasing figures this week showing it delivered 7,931 vehicles in July, up 124 percent year-over-year and down about 2 percent from June.

Xpeng Motors delivered 8,040 vehicles in July, up 228 percent year-over-year.

Li Auto delivered 8,589 vehicles in July, up 250 percent year-over-year.

Leap Motor delivered 4,404 new vehicles in July, up 666 percent from a year ago and up 12 percent from June.

Neta Automobile delivered a record 6,011 units in July, surpassing 6,000 for the first time and up 392 percent year-over-year.

NIO doesn't care about its deliveries being overtaken by XPeng, Li Auto
